Well Beyond Care to be Interviewed by Dr. Mara Karpel

Founders Lauren Tarrant and Jeffrey Fry discuss how their Health Tech Company is Disrupting the Private Duty Industry

Austin, TX, September 10, 2017 –Well Beyond Care’s founders will be discussing how their company offers an alternative solution to the broken system of private duty care through its online service in an interview on Dr. Mara Karpel’s Your Golden Years radio show on Sunday, September 17th, 2017.

Well Beyond Care, launched in late July for 2017, is already operating in seven (7) states and fifteen (15) major metropolitan areas within their first six weeks of operations.  The founders will discuss the journey of getting this revolutionary service up and running and some of the hurdles they still need to overcome in the private pay, private duty caregiving marketplace.  You can find out more about this scheduled interview here.

Well Beyond Care is all about helping families hire affordable, compatible caregivers for their aging parents,” states the company’s Chief Operations Officer, Lauren Tarrant, RN.  Ms. Tarrant also states, “families are under a lot of stress when they discover that they need to have someone care for mom and dad.  In most instances, the adult children live out of town, and knowing that there is a nurse in the neighborhood is a great relief. We just want to keep the stress level down, and nurses are the best way to do that.”

Jeffrey Fry, Well Beyond Care’s CEO and President adds, “the only way we can support our rapidly growing client base is to combine the high touch of nursing, with the high-tech of our online application.”  He goes on to state, “the only way we can make families feel comfortable with our new way of delivering services on a nationwide level is to have a network of nurses helping with professional capability as part of our service.”

The Company has been working on this new application for over three (3) years, and its initial acceptance has been overwhelming.  Management added that they projection for 2018 will be to accelerate the hiring of more nurses to meet the demand for their services nationwide, and is also working with major organizations dealing with caregiving to alleviate some of the major shortcomings of private duty care.

Well Beyond Care Launches Revolutionary Online Service for Caregiving

A Health Tech Company Disintermediating Private Duty Care has launched its online application to disrupt the private duty caregiving industry

Austin, TX, July 28, 2017 –Well Beyond Care, an online company that is offering an alternative solution to the broken system of private duty care, is pleased to announce it has been launched its online application which helps families with the daunting task of finding an in-home caregiver.

Well Beyond Care is the only company that teaches families and individuals how to find and manage affordable non-medical in-home care, while solving the chronic problems of caregiver truancy and turnover.  The platform uses the power of the internet to offer families the ability to care for their aging parents from a distance, allowing them to safely age-in-place. The company also provides nurses to help with healthcare resources, support and transitional care in and from the healthcare community in an effort to avoid emergent visits, hospitalizations and nursing home placement. This solution lowers stress when hiring a caregiver and saves families on average $10,000 to $30,000 per year in care costs.

While the system is a benefit to adults looking for care, it is also to boon to caregivers who are looking for jobs and the ability to make more money.  While families receiving care save between $200 and $600 per week in care costs, a caregiver can expect to increase her salary by 25% to 40%, or by $3 to $6 per hour on average.  This is possible due to the fact that Well Beyond Care is removing the costly middle man known as a private duty care agency, and in the process reducing the mark-up associated with their costly services.

In addition, the company offers nurse navigators, or nurse care-pair managers, to help with the using the site, hiring caregivers, and accessing resources. Laurent Tarrant, RN, Well Beyond Care’s Chief Operations Office states, “One of the things that our company offers is a nurse navigator to help family members who are trying to find care for their mothers or fathers, but who might live over 100 miles away. These nurses are there to reduce stress as much as possible.  The company is unique in that our approach of using nurses with years of home health, hospice and geriatric care management to be a local resource for families who might live far away.” Mr. Tarrant added, “with the launch of our site, we are of course looking to add more nurses to our service.”

“It has taken a great deal of time and effort to get Well Beyond Care launched, but it has been more than worth it,” states Jeffrey Fry, CEO of Well Beyond Care.   Our online service can now help adult children with aging (geriatric) parents solve the serious and upsetting concern regarding what to do to keep mom and dad safe and at home. With the sophisticated healthcare development over the past 50 years, seniors are living longer and this creates an ever-growing need for personal care, and this crisis is only getting bigger as more than 65,000 baby boomers retire every week. We know that there is a huge opportunity for a company to solve this looming crisis in caregiving, and we believe that Well Beyond Care has the solution everyone has been looking for.”

Both Careseekers and Caregivers can create a free account now.  What makes Well Beyond Care unique is that there is no more posting and replying to jobs. Instead, the company uses a sophisticated matching algorithm to ensure that the best caregivers are matched with the care needs of the care recipient.  This is just one of the many innovations the company has developed in the three years since it first prototyped its caregiving service.

Well Beyond Care Overall Winner of Rice Alliance Pitch Event

A Health Tech Company Disintermediating Private Duty Care was Selected as Overall Winner over Ten Companies Presenting at the 2017 Startup Pitch Competition

Austin, TX, January 25, 2017 – Well Beyond Care, an online caregiving matchmaker service that is disintermediating private duty care, won the first Rice Alliance-Austin Chapter and Central Texas Angel Network pitch competition on Wednesday night at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar.  With overall winner’s prize package is worth more than $100,000 including “in kind” prizes from Andrews Kurth, Capital Factory and other companies.

2017PitchAwardRice Alliance and CTAN picked ten Texas-based seed stage companies out of 67 who applied to present at the event.  Jeffrey Fry, CEO and Co-Founder, came up with the idea for Well Beyond Care after caring for his ailing mom, who lived in Alexandria, Virginia for seven years.

“First it is an honor to have been chosen to present with so many fine Austin startups,” Mr. Fry stated.  “And to be selected the overall winner just gives testament to the pressing need to resolved the “silver tsunami” of geriatric care in the U.S.,” Mr. Fry added.

“Being an engineer, I wanted to create something better than what’s out there. Together with my co-founder, Lauren Tarrant, RN, we created an innovative online platform that allows families to hire their own caregivers and resolve most of the pervasive problems in private duty care.  This platform not only save families $10K to $30K in caregiver cost but families now can hire a caregiver of their choosing, that are matched to their needs, and are dependable, reliable, affordable, and available,” Mr. Fry concluded.

Lauren Tarrant added, “today, more than seven and half million people are getting in home care. The market is $120 billion for in home care, but by the end of the decade it’s going to be $180 billion. And 95 percent of all the people who get in-home or private duty care use an agency. They are first off, extremely expensive and we wanted to now allow a more affordable choice for families.  In addition, the two biggest problems with those agencies are truancy and turnover of workers. So, you get unreliable care. Winning this award gets us one step closer to realizing the dream of affordable in home care.”

Well Beyond Care, founded in 2014, has raised $310,000 in seed stage capital so far. The company is raising additional funds to build new features into its it platform including a mobile app and more administrative reporting.  Project Balance has been contracted to develop this applications and the company is looking to launch their platform in May of 2017.

The other finalists in the Austin Rice Alliance pitch competition included:

Anderson Remplex: This Flower Mound-based startup created a product called ProROX to eliminate pathogens from food products for commercial kitchens and consumers.

HipPocket: This Dallas-based startup created a better search and marketing product for real estate listings using machine learning, data and analytics. The company says it transforms how buyer and sales agents connect and consumers buy homes.

Renovate Simply: This Austin-based startup created a home renovation platform for banks, credit unions and other lending institutions to automate the home renovation process and provide increased transparency and reduce risk.

Cingo: This Austin-based startup provides the technology for companies to embed real time in app customer support in their mobile apps.

“This is a great opportunity for Well Beyond Care to showcase how our online service can help adult children with geriatric parents solve the every nagging problem of what to do with mom and dad,” states Jeffrey Fry, CEO of Well Beyond Care.  “We know getting great care is much more than just doing matching, and that is why we also focus on services and resources with our Nurse Care Pair Managers. We are trying to take care to the next level, and close the loop on offering a continuation of transitional care from the hospital, to home health, and back into the home. I personally feel our goals and those of AARP align perfectly concerning the over 50 population and am so excited to be a part of this great event,” Mr. Fry concluded.

“We were very impressed by this year’s applicants,” said Jody Holtzman, senior vice president, Enterprise Strategy and Innovation, AARP.  “It is refreshing to know there are so many companies focused on technology solutions for people 50 and over, as well as their caregivers.  With literally millions of Americans requiring assistance and millions of others providing unpaid care to these folks, there is an immense need.  Technology companies are rising up to deliver solutions to meet these needs and we will showcase many April 27th.”

According to AARP data in its recently issued Caregiving Innovation Frontiers (CIF) study, the caregiving market is expected to reach $72 billion by 2020, with $62 billion of that coming from caregiver’s out of pocket spending. Right now, 40 million Americans are providing unpaid care of aging, disabled, or other people in need of assistance. By 2020, 117 million Americans will need assistance of some kind, yet the overall number of caregivers is only expected to reach 45 million. More is here: http://www.aarp.org/cif

AARP’s Health Innovation@50+ LivePitch is a one day pitch competition for emerging startups in the healthy living space with a focus on caregiving. The event will begin with speaking sessions on caregiving, and then a keynote with Nancy LeaMond, chief advocacy and engagement officer, AARP.  The afternoon will showcase ten companies presenting their business focus on stage before a panel of expert judges and an audience filled with AARP members, the actual intended end users of these solutions.  Representing AARP’s 38 million members, these consumers will share feedback in real-time on business viability, interest and value, providing the companies absolutely invaluable market data on the spot.
